Welcome to Parents Corner!  We have designed this section of our website specifically with you in mind.  As the parents of two U. of I. college graduates, we can relate to how your life is impacted by having a child (or two) in college, and the kind of questions you may have.  One thing we know for sure is that whether this is your first child leaving home for college, or your last, this event affects the entire family.

We have owned and managed Armory House since 1973, and have enjoyed the relationships we have built with the parents and families of our residents, many of whom have followed siblings to Armory House.

We are U. of I. graduates and our children and their spouses are as well. We are truly an Illini family!

Our son, Jon, graduated from the U. of I. in 1997 and the University of Indiana Law school in 1999.  He is now a Director in Mergers and Acquisitions with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago. Jon’s wife, Kim, is a 1999 U. of I. grad with a masters in Administration. She teaches math at Oak Park High School. Their son, Hunter, is 3 years old and will be in the U. of I. freshmen class of 2029.

Our daughter, Emily, graduated from the U. of I. in 2014 with a masters in Elementary Bilingual Education. She teaches dual-language kindergarten in Champaign. Emily’s husband, Jeremy, earned his masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2011 and is a senior software engineer with Citrix, whose research division is located at the U. of I. Research Park.

From our Illini family to yours –  we welcome you to the University of Illinois!  We hope your student will choose Armory House as their home on campus and that we will have the opportunity to personally get acquainted.  If you would like to meet other Armory House parents check out the “Parents Comment” section to learn of their family’s experiences with Armory House.

In the “What to Expect” and FAQ sections we provide you with the information you need to keep a step ahead in your planning, and we have gathered together helpful links in the Resource section just for you.  Take a look around Parents Corner and let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Sincerely,

Neil and Linda Fotzler
